Preparing for Event - Distribute event flyers, sharing event details on social media and local event calendars, and sorting/organizing materials for the event.

Shift 1: Two Hours - Distribute event flyers to nearby businesses, and share event details on social media and local event calendars. Volunteers Needed: Unlimited

Shift 2: Two Hours - Sorting and organizing materials for the event such as bike decorating supplies, posters and signs, and craft supplies for cheer posters. Volunteers Needed: 4

ZONE 1: OBP Official Tent - Manage merchandise, collect donations, and share our core mission with festival attendees.

Shift 1: Setup & Launch (8:30am-10:45am) - Unload and set up canopy, tables, banners, and merch displays; greet early parade arrivals. Volunteers Needed: 4

Shift 2: Mid-Morning Operations (10:30am-12:30pm) - Share OBP's mission, run merchandise sales, and collect donations. Volunteers Needed: 4

Shift 3: Afternoon Operations (12:15pm-2:30pm) - Manage merchandise sales, engage festival crowds, and collect donations. Volunteers Needed: 4

ZONE 2: Bike Decorating Tent & Poster Team - Help kids deck out their rides and make cheer posters for spectators along the route.

Shift 1: Early Operations (8:00am-10:00am) - Unpack canopy and tables, organize decorating supplies (streamers, ribbons, stickers), and help kids deck out their bikes. Assist early arrivals with bike decorations, manage crowd flow, and keep supplies organized. Send everyone out to the Start line at 9:45am! Volunteers Needed: 6

Shift 2: Cheer Poster Creation & Delivery Team (8:30am-10:00am) - Make custom cheer posters at the craft table and deliver them to spectators, vendors and Open Streeters waiting along the route to hold during the parade! Volunteers Needed: 15

Shift 3: Closeout & Tear-Down (10:30am-11:30am) - Clean up the decorating area after the parade departs, pack remaining craft supplies, and tear down the tent. Volunteers Needed: 4

ZONE 3: Memorial and Victim Advocacy Tent - A meaningful space where festival visitors honor lives impacted by traffic violence and sign our signature advocacy banner. This will also be a place where we can discuss with visitors the Ollie's Sudden Loss Family Care Box that directly supports traffic violence victims and their families.

Shift 2: Mid-Morning Team (10:30am-12:30pm) - Welcome visitors, share the message behind the memorial and victim boxes, and invite attendees to sign the advocacy banner. Also collect kit sponsorships/donations, and sign people up for home-sewing heart pillow kits and/or the next sewing event. Volunteers Needed: 3

Shift 3: Afternoon Team (12:30pm-2:00pm) - Welcome visitors, share the message behind the memorial and victim boxes, and invite attendees to sign the advocacy banner. Also collect kit sponsorships/donations, and sign people up for home-sewing heart pillow kits and/or the next sewing event. Volunteers Needed: 3

Shift 4: Closeout & Pack-Up (2:00pm-3:45pm) - Invite final visitors to sign the advocacy banner, carefully disassemble signage and memorial and victim box displays, and pack everything up. Volunteers Needed: 3

ZONE 4: Cheerleader Section - Bring noise and energy along the parade route! Perfect for families, community groups, and all ages.

Shift 1: Cheer Crew (9:45am-11:00am) - Bring soundmakers, noisemakers, and cheer posters from home or those made at the poster creation table; line Laurel Street, make noise, and cheer on decorated bikes as they ride past! Volunteers Needed: Unlimited (Open to all!)
